I have a 2012 AI that has the fixed seat.
Is it possible to upgrade this seat to the Vantage Seat that is standard on current Islands ?
Has anyone done it ?
Are there conversion kits ?
Are Vantage seats standard on all different types of Hobies ?

the short answer is no- you are not able to retro fit the newer seats. The hull is a different shape to accommodate the newer seats.

A few have added boat seats (including the vantage seat by adding simple crossbars across the top of the hull and then fastening the seat to them. This would be all DIY and of course, you would lose the vantage seat features of high, low, etc. As long as you have the AMAS attached, the height isnt a concern.

There are many posts here on which aftermarket boat seats fit best without modification. When I had my 2012 AI, I purchase a regular cheap bass boat seat, took the two pieces apart- shoved one piece between the rear X bar and seat well & then used a kneeling pad (about 1.5" thick under my bum. It was fantastic! I found the biggest issue on the older seats was the back support.
