MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (May 4, 2015) – Dave Jaskiewicz, of Wando, South Carolina, measured a combined limit of 49.13 inches to win the first regular-season event for the Atlantic Division of the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour presented by Hobie Fishing on May 3 at Georgetown, South Carolina. The angler took home $2,250 and a Power-Pole Micro Anchor for his first-place finish.

After fishing the IFA Kayak Tour for the last five years, Jaskiewicz can add another win to his previous two at Georgetown and his 2010 Division Angler of the Year title. With perfect conditions and muddy waters, the angler found his trout by fishing suspended jerkbaits deep in the Wando River. For his reds, Jaskiewicz fished shallow in the grasses of Copahee Sound with weedless paddletails.
“I had a plan and everything worked perfectly,” Jaskiewicz said.

Along with a Power-Pole Micro Anchor and $1,500 first-place prize, the angler won an additional $750 by participating in the Anglers Advantage and PENN Reels contingency programs.

Another former IFA Kayak Tour winner, Nathan Raycroft, of Swansboro, North Carolina, won second place with a 16.50-inch trout and a 31.63-inch redfish, which won the $100 Berkley Gulp! Big Redfish award.

The angler trailered his kayak 30-35 miles to fish the McLellanville area for his limit. He fished top-water baits along with Berkley Gulp!.

“The conditions positively impacted my day,” said Raycroft. “I waited on the falling tide in the late morning for the reds to chase baits out the grass. I am super excited and proud of grinding it out.”

Third-place finisher Joe Komyati, of Raleigh, North Carolina, measured a combined total of 45 inches to take home $500 in cash.

“I traveled 50 miles south to fish the Paradise Island area,” said Komyati. “The unexpected big water movement caused me to leave the area earlier than expected though.”

The angler targeted his fish with top-water baits and Berkley Gulp! shrimp in tall grass.

“I had a wonderful time and plan to be back for the next event in August,” Komyati said.

Along with finishing in fourth place, Jarred Komyati bested the other junior anglers to take home the $100 Jr. Angler award.

The next stop for the IFA Kayak Tour is May 31 at Houma, Louisiana. Anglers who enter at least a minimum of two events and compete in at least one event will be qualified for the 2015 IFA Kayak Tour championship.

The fastest-growing kayak fishing tournament trail in the country, the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing events are catch-photograph-release tournaments, offering inshore kayak anglers from a multitude of states the opportunity to participate in competitive fishing tournaments with low entry fees and minimal travel requirements.
