Highlights from the April 2017 International Hobie Class Association (IHCA) Newsletter…

Over 200 teams from 22 countries have entered the Hobie 2017 Multiworlds and Europeans. It will be the largest Hobie event of the year. Entry is still open; fees increase after April 30. The Hobie 2017 Multiworlds and Europeans is shaping up to be a spectacular event for everyone so don’t miss out. All the information can be found at Hobie Worlds.

The 2017 North American Hobie Mini Mega has moved to Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club in New Jery, the home of Hobie Fleet 250. The dates remain the same, August 2 through 12, 2017. Championships will be contended for Hobie Waves, Hobie 14, Hobie 16 Youth, Hobie Women, Hobie 17, and Hobie 18. There is a discount for booking early. The first discounted entry expires on the April 15. More info here.

The Hobie 16 & 20 North American Championships is being held in Yankton South Dakota June 19-23. Please find additional information and a page for registration here. You can see who has entered; the entry list is growing.

The South African Hobie Tiger National Championships held in Langebaan had it all for the racers. Some interesting facts from event:
Out of 21 teams on the water – 7 sailors hold current or past Hobie world titles
3 teams consisted of fathers sailing with their sons
1 team consisted of a father sailing with his daughter
3 teams consisted of fathers on opposing teams racing against their sons

The 2017 Fiji Hobie Challenge & Oceania will start and finish at Mana Island. Mana Island is 32km West of Nadi and is situated on a 300 acre lush tropical paradise, among white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. The dates are 2-13 August 2017. This is always a fun event that has challenging sailing. More info.

The IHCA Rule Book has been updated. After the comment period the IHCA Council voted two changes to the IHCA Rule book. The rule book can be downloaded here.
