Nearly 200 entries for Hobie 2017 Multiwords and Europeans and counting

The European Hobie Class Association has produced a calendar of Hobie racing for 2017. The highlight is the Hobie 2017 Multiwords and Europeans. The hosts for the Hobie 2017 Multiwords and Europeans have announced the Grandhotel Huis ter Duin as an official sponsor. If you are still looking for accommodation this could be the hotel for you. We are getting close to 200 entries from 20 countries attending. We know of many more coming but are leaving their entry to the last minute. We encourage everyone to enter to save with the discounted entry fee.

The Hobie 16 & 20 North American Championships is being held in Yankton South Dakota June 19-23. Please find additional information and a page for registration here. Best Western in Yankton has been announced as the host hotel. There is a block of 30 rooms reserved and it will be a busy during that time on the River and in Yankton so please book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. The rooms get released in May so don’t delay in booking the room. Mention you are with Hobie Cat to get the rate. RV and tent camping are also available.

The South African Hobie Tiger National Championships will be held at Langebaan. Registration Friday afternoon 17th March 2017, racing Saturday 18th through to Tuesday 22nd March 2017. It’s a long week end in South Africa so make the most of your time and go Hobie sailing. You can enter online here.

The BRASCAT Race Notice is published. The event will take place from 10 to 18 November in Porto Alegre / RS, and will be hosted by Clube dos Jangadeiros. The online registrations can also be made at the Brazilian Hobie Class website. After 10/31/2017, the registration fees will be increased.

The 2017 Mexican Hobie 16 Championships will be hosted at Valle de Bravo, Estado de México, which is a beautiful lake just a two-hour drive from Mexico City. Racing will be from Friday 26 May to Sunday 28 May 2017. More information.

The 2017 French Hobie Championship will be at Châtelaillon-Plage which is south of the city of La Rochelle from 3-5 June. More information can be found at the French Hobie Class website.

The Hobie Asian Championships has been announced for the 13-15 October 2017. The sailing location is the same as the recent Hobie 16 World Championship. Being in October the weather pattern will be different as it will be northeast monsoon season. The wind will be blowing directly down the bay for onshore breeze. The weather is comfortable, 25 degree Celsius. The 3,000 RMB entry fee includes boat charter (boats from the Hobie 16 worlds), two dinner parties and lunch everyday. This is great opportunity for those that attended the last Hobie 16 Worlds to sail in different conditions. Also for those that couldn’t attend and enjoy the last Hobie 16 world Championships. This is a great opportunity to come and sail in China and have a holiday in Hong Kong which is only a short distance away. A Notice of Race and entry details will be released soon.

Congratulations to IHCA Life Member and retired Chairman of the IHCA Rules Committee Erik Olsen. At the recent European Hobie Class Association AGM Thorin Zeilmaker, IHCA Vice President presented a trophy of appreciation to Erik for all his years of hard work within the IHCA. Funding for Hobie Memorial at Dana Point

Help Bring the Hobie Memorial to life in Dana Point. This world-class bronze statue commemorates a life-sized Hobie Alter sailing his Hobie 14 catamaran in the waves of Dana Point. The base will commemorate all of Hobie’s historical contributions to the world’s surfing and sailing culture and industries. If you can assist here is the website.
