Over 250 entries for Hobie® 2017 Multiworlds and Europeans and counting

June is looking to be a busy month for the Hobie sailors around the world. With the French Hobie Championships 3-5 June at Chatelaillon-Plage. South African Hobie 14 National Championships 16-18 June at Point Yacht Club, Durban. Hobie 16 & 20 North American Championships at Yankton SD from the 17-23 June. The Hobie Wave at the America’s Cup 21st-25th June in Bermuda. That is just the tip of the iceberg, with hundreds of other local events being raced around the world. All equally import to the sailors competing.

Last month saw one of the largest Hobie events in North America, Madcatter 41 successfully completed, though the weather did not behave as the organizers would have liked. The organizers managed to keep the sailors warm and entertained.

Many of the Madcatter sailors will attend the Hobie 16 & 20 North American Championships in Yankton. Both classes have a healthy entry list, with discounted accommodation still available at Best Western Kelly Inn. Also RV and camping at Lewis & Clark State Park. With the Yankton sail going up for a silent auction with the proceeds going back to the Yankton community. Registration.

The Hobie Wave has been used by the America’s Cup Endeavour project which has generated special interest from the junior sailors around the world. Racing will be on the Americas Cup course and a special half time exhibition race on June 24th during the America’s Cup will be a highlight. The Hobie 2017 Multiworlds and Europeans has continued to grow, with over 250 entries. The Hobie 14 is just short of the 60 entries and the Hobie 16 just short of 100 entries. Our discussion with the sailors show we should be getting more sailors entering this month and even some saying they will enter on the day. You don’t wish to miss out on this Hobie party. South African Hobie Hobie 16 Championships will be held at Langebaan Yacht Club 29th September to the 3rd October. The sailors can enter via the web site . Langebaan is a popular sailing site in South Africa hosting a Hobie 16, Tiger and Dragoon World Championships. You can enter online.

2017 Fiji Hobie Challenge & Oceania starts next month at Mana Island, near Nadi. The hosts are getting the charter boats tougher to ensure another classic event with both short course, round the buoy racing and long distance races. The 2017 North American Hobie Mini Mega will be conducted at Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club in New Jersey. This is the home of Hobie Fleet 250. The dates remain the same August 2 – 12, 2017. The 2017 Hobie Mini-Mega North American Championships will consist of Hobie Waves, Hobie 14, Hobie 16 Youth, Hobie Women, Hobie 17, Hobie 18. More.

The French Hobie National Championships will be held at Chatelaillon Plage, from the 3rd to 5th June. It is open to the Hobie 16, Hobie 14, Dragoon and Wild Cat. More information can be found at the French Hobie Class Association website.

The BRASCAT will take place from 10 to 18 November in Porto Alegre / RS, and will be hosted by Clube dos Jangadeiros. The online registrations can also be made at the Brazilian Hobie Class website. After 10/31/2017, the registration fees will be increased.
