HCrate on a TI?

Post subject:  HCrate on a TI?
Will a Hobie HCrate fit on a TI? Is that the best and easiest solution to store fishing gear on a TI? Any and all responses appreciated. Dom

The H-Crate will fit every boat we make and most any kayak.

H-Crate fits perfectly in TI, but you need to add some parts to be able to secure the H-Crate. This is my solution:

I swapped the factory 71117001 CLEAT SCREW-IN

Thank you Johnny. The pictures were great. By any chance do you have the same pictures for the rigging of the sail on a Tandem Island? Matt provided me with the static picture but I can't really figure it out with that. Also, on a TI do you have to pick either the front seat or back seat to set the main sheet from? Can't it do it from both? Thanks.

With the factory setup you can pedal, steer, raise and lower the rudder, and sheet the sail from either seat.

If the image Matt sent you didn't help, here is a description using words which you might find easier to understand alongside the pictures.
Begin the process with the mast erected, with the mainsheet pulley hooked into the sail, but with no mainsheet line attached to it.

1. Thread one end through the turning block bolted to the hull in front of and below the front aka, from the bottom.
2. Thread this end into the outer cam cleat on the front crossbar, from the front (bow).
3. Tie a simple knot at the end of the mainsheet, so it can never run completely through the cam cleat. The knot should be facing the occupant of the front seat.
4. take the other end of the mainsheet along to the rear of the hull, and thread it up through the lower turning block on the side of the hull.
5. Thread the end of the mainsheet through the bigger pulley on the fitting attached to the rear (aft) deck.
6. Thread the end of the mainsheet through the pulley next to the hook which is attached to the sail.
7. Bring the mainsheet back to the rear, and thread it through the smaller pulley on the fitting.
8. Thread the end through the upper turning block on the side of the deck.
9 Thread the end up through the turning block bolted to the hull in front of and below the rear aka, from the bottom.
10. Thread this end into the cam cleat on the rear crossbar, from the front.
11. Tie a simple knot at the end of the mainsheet, so it can never run completely through the cam cleat. The knot should be facing the occupant of the rear seat.

This should all match up to the diagram Matt sent you, and pictures you see on the forum. As you can see, the mainsheet can be controlled from either seat (steps 2 and 10 above). If you ensure that the knot in the mainsheet is very close to its cam cleat in the unoccupied seat, you will have enough mainsheet end to tiie it to the end of the furling line, so you can furl or unfurl the sail from either seat.
