Corrosion on Lowrance power cable

I am having a lot of corrosion on my power cable for my Lowrance Elite-5 fish finder. Has anyone found a solution for this problem? I contacted Lowrance about this problem and they had no solution. I find it interesting that they do not have a cap or cover made for the wire connector ends considering how many of their fish finders are installed on kayaks and other small boats where the owners remove them while transporting their boats. My Lowrance unit uses 8 pins out of the ten possible. I have looked all over the internet for some type of cap but none were found.

I use DeoxIT on my connectors it turns a green connector like new and protects from corrosion.

Head off to your local hardware store, and check out the rubber feet for chair legs. I found a perfect fit for my 4DSI, but you might need something else.

You can put dielectric grease in the connector.
If you must remove the connector every time it's more of a challenge. Otherwise, in addition to the grease you can wrap a connector with a good quality electrical tape like 3M Scotch 33. Even better, there is a self vulcanizing tape they make for the first layer then put the Scotch 33 over that and follow with liquid waterproofing sealant ( also 3M product ) if you want to do the full monty.
We used this method on seismic exploration boats in the Gulf of Mexico and it worked well.
If you are removing the display every time you MUST flush both sides of the connector with a contact cleaner that is compatible with the plastic shell of the connector. Otherwise the connector is going to corrode.
If it was me I would be looking for a way to leave and protect the display on the boat during transport so that the connector can be sealed adequately.
