The ACT Hobie Island Club's November trip to South Durras is on for the weekend 15-16 Nov. Depending on the conditions the plan will to have a Sail (and fish for those inclined) on the Saturday.

The launch/meeting spot will be the boat ramp next to the Murramarang Beachfront Resort at 7:30am on Saturday morning.

Here we can make a group call on what the best plan for the conditions will be. If the conditions are right, an option might be a sail South to Maloneys beach for lunch and then back. We might even see a whale or two. Happy to take any other suggestions. If the seas are too rough then we can always fallback to Lake Durras. There will also be optional sail Sunday morning, but I will most likely only sail the Saturday myself.

I have booked a powered site at Murramarang Beachfront Resort and it has excellent facilities, plus the boat ramp is right next door. I will be arriving Friday afternoon and departing Sunday mid morning. For those would like to meet up for "Happy Hour" (or an evening meal) at Murramarang, we can meet at the camp kitchen at a time we decide Saturday afternoon after the sail. http://www.murramarangresort.com.au

Hobie are offering some promo gifts for this event, so can I get an email reply if you are planning to attend so I can advise Hobie of numbers. I need to know by Thursday night please.

Slight change in plans

The meeting place will now be the boat ramp on Lake Durras at 7:30 am on Saturday morning. The ramp is only a 6 min drive from the Murramarang Resort.

We can decide on the morning on the route. For those that are going to fish, be aware that parts of the lake are Sanctuary Zones http://www.mpa.nsw.gov.au/pdf/bmp-zoning-map.pdf

Great turn out for the ACT Hobie Island Club Sail on 15 Nov. It's a shame the weather wasn't better and we discovered how shallow most of Durras Lake is.
