Shoal Bay is a great launch spot, especially if we plan to pop outside. Only trap (don't ask me how I know!) is the stupid placement of overhead power wires to the toilet block immediately east of the ramp. It seemed a perfectly logical tactic to turn hard left on leaving the ramp, to pull up next to the tap to hose the TI down.
Fortunately, a bystander yelled out at me before my mast put too much tension on the power line... (gulp).

I am happy wherever the launch site is (now I am aware of that %^&* wire!)

Weather forecast for Mon-Wed looks good http://www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/nsw4.asp

What's the plan? Are we just day sailing, or camping overnight off our kayaks? (If so, one? or 2 nights?....I need to organise some gear & food etc)
Are you thinking bay exploring? River adventure? (I'm not big on ocean cruising)

I am based in Nelson Bay. Where are you guys staying?

Appreciate your organising this guys - should be great! :D

Sadly, I can't make it this time... At about 3pm on New Year's Eve, my car's fuel pump carked it. The tow truck got it to a garage, and they plan to fix it on Monday.
[glass half full] Rotten timing, but a few hours later would have been even worse :) [/glass half full].

Looks like I definitely need to organise a Broughton Island adventure in a few months to make up for it!

Have fun guys!

Sorry, but I'm not going to be able to make it either. I'm not actually on holidays yet but I had hoped to be able to get away for a few days next week. Due to some unexpected family issues, that's not going to be possible now.
I hope those that are still able to go have a great sail! :)

I'm sorry fellas. I'm out as well. Our pre-planned trip out west has been postponed until until now so we are just in 'packing the car' mode. ( hate that bit almost as much as the 'unpacking the car' mode ).
Sorry I couldn't catch up with you and Doris again Ian. I don't live far away from you Robnco so I'm sure we can arrange something in the near future. :D

That is such a pity Tony and Slaughter. It would have been great to catch up.
Stringy and Rod are you still ok for Monday?
The weather and wind is good for sailing. :)

Hi Rod,
yes it will be day sailing for us. We are "glamping" on FennIngham island and enjoy our comfortable bed. :)

Willy weather says the wind won't kick in until miday so how about we meet at 10:00 at Shoal bay on the east side of the boat ramp.
by the time we're rigged, gear'ed up and ready to sail the breeze should be a nice 10kts and continuing to strengthen to about 16kts in the afternoon. We'll just need to take care near the heads with wind against an outgoing tide for most of the day.
Regards Ian
