I love my Hobie Sport and am looking at having a hip replacement in the next year. Has anyone had this done and can you still pedal comfortably and straddle the kayak if needed? I only straddle if I need to scoot up to pull out the drive.

I have had both hip and knee replaced. Sure you can peddle after the surgery. I do. The real question is when can you peddle? They will have you walking on the same day of the surgery but recovery will still take a long time. Probably 6 to 18 months. The hardest part probably won't be the peddling. It will be getting your kayak to and from the water and getting into and out of the kayak. The actual peddling will probably help your recovery.
