This topic has been created to track the 2023 changes to the Hobie Mirage kayak line. I did this here (https://www.hobie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=67589) for the 2021 model year. I did not create a 2022 topic due to all the supply chain issues, order backlogs and delays, and covid-induced global malaise. I regret that now since 2022 did bring some interesting kayak changes.

As information is released by Hobie (or rumors heard) regarding 2023 model year changes, please post them here or PM me and I will update this top post.

Rumor has it that:
The 2023 Compass will have a functional cup holder, a genuine fishing seat and new rudder system that doesn't drag on the ground.
The 2023 Lynx will have a factory installed bow and hull bottom protection system, a paddle holder and paddle storage location that makes sense, and carry handles that don't hurt your hands when you carry the kayak.
P.S.
I've been drinking.

I would like to create a new rumor that the Passport will have a rudder up/down control as standard...

Also, a SUP style pocket (or LIFTSUP handle) on the Lynx to make it possible to carry without pinching your knuckles.

2. Link to 2023 Consolidated Specs added. (This will be updated as model year details are captured.)

Normally by now (actually November) we would have seen a half dozen or more significant changes to the Hobie kayak lineup. The 2023 model year transition has brought no noteworthy changes thus far. I am a bit surprised.

Peter,

I just read a post on FB that Lynx will have a Catalina Blue color option for 2023. Have you heard anything about this?

I have not picked up any Hobie kayak model change rumors. Usually dealers start leaking info around June and press releases come out in Sep-Nov. Looks like MY 2023 is not bringing any big changes which would make this an unusual year for Hobie.

The new year brings with it many price increases and a few color changes. These are noted in both the top post details and the consolidated spreadsheet.

old news: in April 2020 pretty sure the compass was $2099. I know everyone knows things are going up but wow! Thanks for the great comparison chart

The only Hobie thermoformed (non-rotomolded) kayaks, the Passport 10.5 and Passport 12.0, have been discontinued and no longer show on the Hobie Kayak website page.

I have updated the top post and will update the consolidated spreadsheet when there are more changes to be made.

No further updates will be made to the 2023 spreadsheet. Any future changes will be tracked as 2024 changes.

I have been following Hobie Mirage kayak updates and changes for 20 years. This was the saddest year I can remember with just some color changes and price increases. Almost every prior year had an exciting combination of updates, new models, and new accessories. I hope the acquisition by Taso Sofikitis et al. doesn't mean greatly reduced research and development...

Hobie seems to be chased by copycats selling stuff that just fell out of patent. If they need a premium innovation to keep ahead, how about bringing mirage drive wells to extra portable modular kayaks including sail fittings?

Kayaks in 2 or 3 sections can fit in vehicles or even can be hand carried more easily from dwelling to water. I have one of those as well as inflatables, but not with the magic combo of fin drive and sail socket. There must be millions whose choice of a watercraft is limited by condo or apartment living with no outside storage and no private garage. Coastal areas are lined with high rises full of water watchers who don't realize technology allows them to bring watercraft up and down their little elevator. Sail sockets should return to Hobie inflatables as well.

A decrease in overall hull quality and endurance must be expected...
