:(
The rudder pick up handle on the Mirage Outback fisherman wouldn't stay in place when the handle was pushed down to lower rudder. The fix was a simple lengthening of tie-wrap that holds the bungee to the bracket, BUT....getting the bracket back on after the adjustment was an actual nightmare. How do the people at Hobie get the bracket installed on the inside of the boat? The spring is so heavy, it's impossible to compress it while trying to install the handle on the outside. I finally got some picture wire, compressed the spring and tied it down, then reinstalled the assembly. My arms are slender, and I can't imagine how any man could get his arm inside the hatch under the seat. Three men tried and couldn't. My upper arms are literally black and blue from pressing against the side of hatch trying to get the dang thing back in place. This is an item that should NEVER go unchecked before the boat leaves Hobie, unless they are willing to send some little 4"-5" people to work inside to fix this problem.

Not a one man job! That is the trick. I just did that on one of our boats.

Each boat is adjusted and inspected here at Hobie Cat, but for shipping, we have to detach the rudder. That is likely when the problem occured. It is possible that the lines got tangled up inside and required the zip tie adjustment to correct for it.
