I'm feeling a bit unlucky this year. Earlier I had Turbo ST Fin Mast failures (had defective sprockets). Then my hull leaked and it was generously replaced by Hobie the other week.

Then today one of my peddles broke off. The pin (maybe 1/4 inch diameter) that holds the peddle to the square bar arms sheared off so "nicely" it looks cut.

I was able to limp back by maintaining some lateral pressure from my foot to keep what was left of the peddle shaft in the square bar hole.

I was feeling even unluckier when I reach shore. Two separate couples came up to me and were wondering about the Outback. I would have let them take a spin but instead had to tell 'em about the broke peddle.

I think the fix calls for a simple part replacement, but has anyone else ever had a peddle shear off?

Thomas

Bummer dude!

My guess is this item should still be under warranty.

Not sure if drive is still under warranty. And I'm not sure if I want to press them on this peddle problem. Hobie has already replaced a hull, 4 drive cams and a stuck paddle (it would not come apart) in the 2 years I've owned my Outback and Sport.

Your concerns are understandable but the warranty is built into the price. The other concern is if you don't let them know of the problem how will they know. Do everyone a favor and contact Hobie to let them know what happened. You never know they might reward yuo with a replacement part(s) and start the process of discovering why this happened.
