Post subject:  Towing a kayak with my Sport - Where do I tie the tow line?

Tonight I'm pedalling/paddling my Mirage Sport to a bayside concert here in San Diego. I want to tow my friend, who has an arm injury and will be riding in a one-man inflatable kayak. His kayak has a good place in front to tie a tow line, but I'm worried about where to tie the other end of the line on the back of my Sport WITHOUT it interfering with the rudder. Anyone tried this successfully? Where do I tie the line for towing on the back of my Sport?

Thanks,

Steve

I have had good luck with securing the Kayaks side by side and doing it that way. The other suggestion is to let him use the sport and you the inflatable, then he will most defiantly go buy a sport tomorrow morning and then there will be no problem. Have fun at the concert!

Thanks,

That's what I did this past weekend, when my girlfriend got tired of paddling the KeoWee2. Put my fenders out, lashed the two boats together and pedaled both of us along. In calm water, I could barely tell there was "dead weight" (don't let her know I called her that!) strapped to my Outback, and the rudder was still very responsive. Plus, conversation is a lot easier than it would be with her at the end of a tow rope. (I suppose that's an advantage!)
