Post subject:  ADVENTURE RIGGING
Started today on setting up my new toy. First was the Cuda 168 and a built in compass.

Setting up the transducer was a snap thanks t the KFS crew putting in a foam block before the yak was sold.

Used the battery box out of the old P15. I need to do a setup with the AA's this battery is a little heavy around 5#.

Added a Ram tube in that nice flat spot that Hobie left for us. If you like to troll the Scotty mount that comes with the Fisherman model is pretty much useless, but it will be a good flyrod holder.

Still looking for what the tankwell was designed to have fit in it. So a 1/2 crate will do for now.

The hatch will take an 8ft one-piece rod. I don't know if you can do that on the water though.

Hey Tree,
Awesome job--lookin' great! Any trouble reading the Cuda when it is mounted that far forward of the seat? I'm working up a comparison of the original BigA rudder on the one that I drove with the final version as it appears on yours. Kinda interesting. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the kudos. The FF is about the same distance away on the BigA as on my P15, so not much of an issue for me. Sun glare is really the only problem I have because I have to scoot forward to readjust the screen.

What's the model of your compass and where did you get it? Is it florescent for night use?

Do you use a bore saw blade for the hole and glue in with silicon?

Sorry for the non-reply Dan, it has been very busy with the recent snow here in the Northeast(work) and the holidays comming up. Yes that is it, pretty simple and no additional sealant needed. I have had 3 different yaks and installed a Ritchie compass in each one with no leaks. Just remember to find a flat spot or as close to as possible before you drill.

While GPS is great I like to have a backup when the fog rolls in.

Indeed. You can be beyond site of land before you realize the GPS is still sitting on the counter at home, but you're not going to forget a built in compass. Backups are a good thing to have.
