I have a 2011 Adventure and the darn Seat back straps keep slipping.....I do about 7 miles at a decent pace and I notice I keep leaning further and further back over time,...I pull them back up and sometimes they will slip a half in. right away...other times not. Can the little teeth be sharpened or the straps be roughened up some with sandpaper.??? Anyone tried anything to help this....Its not bad, just more annoying than anything else, it would be nice if it stayed put. |

I adjusted my seat and then tied a knot in the remaining to prevent slippage. This has worked just fine for me. Anther way is to use Velcro on both sides to prevent slippage. |

Adding a triglide buckle (in pic top right) or better yet a camlock style buckle (easier to adjust) to the strap hook end locks the loose strap and prevents the seatback slipping. Simply unthread the seat strap, thread the webbing through the extra buckle and then rethread back through the seat. Adjust your seat, feed the slack back through the extra buckle and lock it.

COOL fix...looks like the cam lock is the best...Because you can still adjust the seat fairly easy, for other people to use. I think I've seen those camlocks at west Marine or I'm sure a Outdoor shop, like Backpacker or REI would have them, I haven't checked, but Hobie may even make one. |

You might want to check out REI's collection of relatively inexpensive, matte black, high density plastic sliders, camlocks, etcetera. |

Duh? The new seat boat bought last week has hook snap end Sewn on you can only put the camlock on the loose end Trying to block it from pulling thru. The Velcro Might work after I get over spending $8+ at West Marine to Fix nothing! |

No Need to remove Hook Snap....I have a New seat..2011 and I simply removed the strap from the original buckle (that is sewn on) and I placed the Camlock on the strap and slide it down to about a inch from the Snap hook..... I then re threaded the strap to the Sewn on buckle, just like it was before and put the loose end or long end into the cam lock....it acts as a Double back up. The Camlock HAS to have those two slots on the bottom so you can run it along the strap. I ordered them off Amazon.com and got 25 for 8.00 dollars. |

The easiest way i have found if your the only one using it is to use a heavy duty canvas or leather awl and put a stitch or two through the webbing after you adjust it to were you want. |

As MM said, you unthread the strap from the seat buckle (attached to the seat), slide the camlock down to the hook end, rethread the strap through the seat, adjust the seat and then feed the slack through the camlock and lock it.

I can't believe I've had Hobie kayaks the last 3 yrs and never thought to get this issue "fixed" I usually just tie a knot in the strap after its adjusted to my liking, but this camlock thing makes so much more sense! |

They also make a snap-on triglide that you can install without undoing any straps. I know REI sells them. |
