Hey, just wondering.. anybody used a hobie sport in whitewater? or is it not designed for whitewater. I do alot of yak fishing, but also have an itch to do whitewater aswell. With the pedal drive detatched, the hobie sport looks ideal for it, would save me getting another yak for whitewater if the sport could handle it.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Cheers!

If running whitewater on a river I don’t think it would be a good idea to have the drive in. Most white water will force you into the rocks along the river which will destroy the fins, masts, and drive.

So you are right, remove the fins for whitewater and the rudder up.

The surfing video is on a Maui. The Sport can surf, but I would take the drive out. I did it both ways and found paddling best in it and with the rudder up. The rudder is not robust enough for sideways slides down waves and the transition form paddle to rudder control caused a few flips!

So... whitewater?
