Hi guys, I'm in the process of gathering the many things I need to use and store my kayak. So now I'm looking for storage options and I need some feedback. Hanging from the ceiling can't be done here, and upside down takes more space than I want to use. So that leaves me with wall mounting the kayak resting on it's side. The kayak is a hobie revo. How deep is it? http://www.austinkayak.com/products/157 ... -Rack.html These racks are well thought out and use a sling for the yak to fit on. When your Revo is not on the rack, the arms swing back up out of the way. If you use them outside, you need to spray some varethane/urethane on them or similiar protective outer covering on them. The Talic website gives specifics on how far apart to mount the holders. The maximum girth is 60 inches which should not be a problem when you place the holders at the suggested distance apart. I had planned to buy a set for my Revo, but I will wait a month until the Revo11 comes out. |

I just received mine and I'm a bit worried that setting my revo sideways on these may be like sitting it on the floor. Going to spread the mounts 4.5 feet apart, does that sound about right? I store my revo for 5 months on its side leaning against the wall without any padding. The gunwhales are the strongest part of the boat. Johnny |

I see lots of good spirit and useful information on these forums. Congratulations to you, the Hobie community. I recently got a Hobie Oasis = tandem pedal kayak, 101 pounds rigged. I would like to store it indoors and I am thinking about building a frame on the garage wall. Has anyone seen a good frame for sale, or does anyone have advice from having built their own? What features make a frame good? Which boat orientation is best: right side up, upside down, OR on its side? - |

Ladder rack from Home depot and some pipe insulation. Rack at 1/3 and 2/3 boat length. Worked for 3 years so far and less than $15 |
