THE DEEP GEAR BUCK IS HERE!

Image

71704021 GEAR BUCKET 8” – DEEP $19.99 List (USA 10-2011)
Fits 8” Twist and Seal Hatch. Deep profile and no dividers to allow storage for larger items. As with the original gear bucket, this is water resistant, not water proof. Items needing protection from water damage should always be stored with care or in water proof coverings. Fits most Hobie kayak models (Does not fit in Quest or Pro Angler).

TANDEM ISLAND DOLLY AVAILABLE SOON (Mid October)

We have created this cart to more easily carry the Tandem Island. It is very similar to a Catamaran style “Cat Trax”. Available with hard surface wheels or with soft sand beach wheels.

Easier to load and unload than a scupper cart. Carry the weight of the Tandem Island with ease over sand or hard surfaces. A wide cradle easily supports the weight. Does not use scuppers for support or alignment which prevents scupper damage. Handle allows easy cart manipulation when unloaded and easier cart insertion under the boat. Acts as a “kick-stand” to hold the cart upright for loading.

Quick pin – removable handle and wheels for compact storage.

Always good to see new stuff. I mainly use the lakes in the Reno,Nv. area and I was trying to figure out a way to see into the water (without getting wet). Mabey a clear dish that`s one or two feet in diameter. Any ideas ? ty

What a great advance, and probably most of us will buy one for every 8" hatch.
These will keep our gear from roaming around the inside of our yaks. We can add a dry bag for gear, we want to keep safe and dry.

Now come out with a similiar cart for our smaller yaks with a good price and the option to buy without wheels since most of us have Hobie's carts and wheels. It is a real pia to get the cart on and off in water at the launch sites.

How about a dry-bag to fit the 8" hatches, like the 6" version?

I've seen a version that comes with a near-identical copy of the 8" Hobie twist-n-seal hatch, but it was pretty cheap-looking.

I'm sure there would be a decent demand for one...

Cheers,

Mike.

We went with the bucket instead of a bag. There is a problem making a bag fit due to the shape of the opening / hatch lip. The 6" hatch requires a separate backing ring and lip that is made by Viking Marine. We didn't want a bag that required more hardware to be installed, so have not gone that direction.

Happy to see the deep bucket as well. May be just the ticket for my camera...with a few mods.
Make an even larger one Hobie. One that spreads out a little below deck, but that can still fit in hatch.

Hi!
I ordered a GEAR BUCKET 8” by my "local" kayak shop. But the dealer reported back to me. That they were taken out of production, because the material split on them. is it true ?
For the time being, I must be satisfied with the short model instead.

NB! Im a Danisch Newbie, with a Hobie Outback model 2011 :)

No - that is not correct. We had some freight issues due to how they were packaged and stuffed together from the vendor - but that was addressed and that problem was resolved a while ago. They were never taken out of production, and are available now from any Hobie kayak dealer.

A "larger one that spreads out a little below deck" is a great idea.

Thought:
The deep bucket seems like a good idea, except that I like being able to remove my Hobie dry bag from the hole and take with me when I stop at various places during trips. Making it removable and more like a bag with a ring opening than tupperware would be a great idea.

I'm sure others do the same, but the trick to keeping the bag from wandering around inside the hull is to tie a line between the bag's triangle clip and the upright post down inside the back hole (it's about 12 inches toward the front and on the right side in my Oasis Tandem)

Now make a divider-free one for the Pro Angler. Please!

How about this rectangle hatch? A local shop say it can replace the 8" round hatches on the the out back.

Can I replace the 8" round hatches on an Oasis?

This will only fit the latest Outback that has a flat molded for it. Very recent change.
