I'm sure there are lots of you folks out there who frequently use your Hobie Mirage Drive kayak in saltwater. I'm wondering what metal the Mirage drive is made of and whether corrosion is a problem? Obviously a good rinsing with fresh water when done would be helpful. What do you people all do to prevent corrosion?

All of the Hobie gear is designed for saltwater.

Mostly plastic and stainless steel (connecting cable is copper though I balieve). It'll show corosion at the exposed end. The rest of the hull uses stainless, anodized aluminum and brass if not plastic -- all marine grade.

Hose and wipe down and a lite lube (I use Breakfree). Lots of folks don't do anything -- they're pretty rugged.
