Its definitely a dream to get to NZ and do some big kayak trips. I am a big fan of inland lakes and such.

The captain is partially paralysed down her right side. The only time you get a symmetrical smile is if she is laughing as a reflex. A forced smile will be squint.

She insists on posing or putting on some sort of face because normal pictures are boring apparently. This is one of her more subtle ones.

That is one of the many things I really love about Hobie kayaks - access for folks who would typically not be involved in kayaking. I took my mother-in-law out for her first trip the other night (she is over 60), and it opened a new world for her. Awesome.

Hey Cryder,

You're right! The gulf does have minimal tides. Usually between 1 to 1.5 ft. Nothing like the Sound, especially around Deception Pass outside of Anacortes. However, what is lacked in tidal movement can easily be countered by horrendous winds! In spite of those winds there are many protected areas in the back bays which offer great kayaking no matter what happens in the open water areas. If you might happen to be into coastal bird watching, I don't think you can find a better place to be.
You asked about the Kayakers my brother is involved with. Don't bother. They are a bunch of stuck up anal retentives you really don't want to know. They look down on people like us as inferiors. Oh well!!! Who wants to socialize with a crowd like that anyway. I'll just keep peddling into the next adventure.

Not my best video but should give some idea of what this destination has to offer.
