I have an Atwood kayak hoist. You can get it at bass pro. It's excellent and tough as balls. Rated for 150 lbs I think?

Holds my outback over my car nicely. When departing I just lower it carefully (you have to lower one end at a time so just go down a few inches then switch and on and on for 10 seconds). Then I just swing it over to centre it, put a temp strap on to get out of the garage, and formally strap it down on the driveway. Love it.
