I really like the Trax2 cart over the hard-plastic wheeled model, except for using it when the boat's in the water.

The problem I'm having with putting the cart ON, in the water, is that the wheels float, so it's really hard to submerge the cart with one hand and align the scupper posts. Is there some simple trick?

I hate tipping the boat on its side, but seems the only way.

There was a thread about this awhile back. I think most people were saying they fill the tires partly with water.

I use two hands, get cart under hull, as long as you start one post in scupper hole the other one should align itself in. Just be sure they're both fully in before putting the weight of the kayak on the cart.

Hi stk,
Yes there is a trick to using the trax 2 wheels.
I had the same problem until I found out that if you twist the black hub knob
a quarter turn, this releases the wheel assembly from the axle.
with the "near side" wheel removed, it is easy to fit the cart with one hand, then you can just "click" the "near side" wheel back on. :)

Thanks, Montedane! Sounds like an excellent idea and can't wait to try that, (though the idea of weighting the wheels with a bit of water is also interesting).

Bob -- it's very hard to use two hands to insert the cart, because the winds and tides where I launch usually require one hand to hold the boat.

I'll second what montedane said. I also have the trax2 cart and that's the way I do it.
