Has anybody used the Oasis in a river? I didn't know if the Mirage system could be used to slow the kayaks drift speed down the river... Can it be used in reverse? How about class rating in rapids?? Is class #3 possible?? I'm not after extreme rapids, but rivers like the "Big Horn" or the "San Juan" mostly....Thank you in advance for any help!

I am also interested in a potential reply to this query. I am looking to use one of these to fly fishing on a Canadian river with a strong current.

Yes, you can use it in reverse. The caveat to that is that you can use it only in reverse, or only in forward. You must remove the drive and turn it around to change direction. I know that some guys do this, but it is not common. Most people up here in Oregon just drag anchor - often lengths of chain - when drifting rivers in a Hobie.
