Post subject:  Hatch Leaks

I have a 2007 Hobie Outback and when not in use keep it in my back yard right side up since the transducer is held with duct seal. After a heavy rain I have water inside the kayak which I think is coming in through one of the 3 hatches.

How can I re-seal these hatches? (Goop, Silicone, something else.....)

IMO, better to store the kayak upside down, off ground on saw horses, less chance of hull distortion. I'd also leave the drain plug or hatches open a bit to let air ventilate. The transducer duct seal should not come loose, if it does, just push it back in place, it will be fine. If you have to store hull up, cover with a tarp.

Try the plumbers silicone grease on the hatch seals, made hatches like new on mine.
