Post subject:  Small Hole In An Important Spot

After beaching a Mirage Outback and discovering the hull was awash with water inside, we discovered a small hole under the front mounting area of the machine. My question concerns how to patch effectively in this area which seems to be a wear/impact area, and how to avoid too much build-up of patch material that would prevent the metal from seating under the turn-knob.

Ideas?

Plastic welding. You can fill and then file or sand down a repair.

Knobs? How old is the kayak? It may be eligible for warranty coverage. Contact a Hobie Dealer.

the hull is from 2005 and i'm in mexico, without access to repair kits...

can i carve off some of the hull from one of the extra plastic (if i can find some), then use it for a weld with perhaps a bit of screen (metal/plastic) added?...there must be some exra plastic on the edges of something there...?
