If those were a closer copy of the classic P-40 tiger mouth, I'd go for it in a heartbeat. The proportions on this one are somehow "off." At least to my eye. |

Here's a template you can use -- proportions should be about right. |

As I recall, this was an item from NCal Fishing Forums from a few years ago.The fisherman was in a Hobie Adventure in the ocean north of SF (somewhere west of Tomales Bay I believe) when his boat was attacked by a Great White shark. He was knocked in the water, but the shark ignored him. He remounted the boat only to be knocked in again. Apparently the shark lost interest by then and the fisherman was able to remount and pedal in, unhurt but shaken. This is one of the images I copied from the post. It's amazing the shark didn't crush the boat and only succeeded in penetrating the Polyethylene hull hull with 2 teeth. Most of his teeth marks slid harmlessly down the side. When Hobie heard about this they sent him a new Adventure, according to the post. I don't know if the gentleman went back to ocean fishing there or not. Someone from that area may remember the details better. Nevertheless, I rather like the authentic tooth pattern, but am glad it isn't on my boat. There was speculation as to whether fins or color played a role in the attack, but no conclusions were drawn. One thing I thought important though -- the rather significant benefit of knowing how to get back in your boat -- first hand! Brand4440, sorry if I took this off topic, and best of luck with the sale of your decals. I wonder if they might effectively ward off shark attacks? |
