What's the length of a turbofin mast screwed fully into a v2 drive socket?

I've recently added an oasis to my fleet and am in the process of adding turbofins to its two drives. I just noticed that what i considered 'fully in place' differs on each drive, and i'm a bit weary of turning much harder on the masts.

But, the fins do not quite fit on the set of masts that i feel like i didn't fully screw in, the gap that's left at the top of the fin is too big.

I'm noticing that one drive's masts are at 12 and 7/8ths inches.
the other drive's masts are about 13 and 3/16ths ...

On the longer masts (the ones i'm assuming i didn't fully screw in) the gap at the top of the fins is interfering with seating them properly.

I, of course, decided to check this after loctiting everything and letting it all dry for a day like a dope.

Good eye -- a lot of people don't notice. Checking the mast length is an excellent way to verify full seating. I get 13 1/32" for the squared off masts installed. Your masts should fit in exactly the same but as you've noted, thread friction can vary. You can remove the Loctite Blue masts with a little effort. Clean the threads, blow out any debris and dry fit the masts to make sure everything is cleaned out before re-Loctiting them. They'll go in easier next time and you should be able to feel them seat once dry-fitted. If in doubt, you can mark the masts where they should break the surface to verify your depth or check the exposed length immediately. I tend to be generous with the Loctite, as it acts as a lube before it sets up (which is pretty fast).

Whenever installing new masts or sprockets it's best to dry fit first. This process cleans out any burrs and exposes in advance any tight fits. 8)
