Post subject:  Strange noise in my 2012 Hobie Revo 13 Seat.

I was wondering if anyone else has been having this problem and if the Hobie Community or Hobie Staff had any insight as to a cause and solution.

My seat has been making a sound similar to when a person adjusts their position while sitting on a vinyl sofa. The sound reverberates in the kayak hull which makes it near impossible to sneak up on a fish out in the flats.

The noise does not seem to come from friction with the kayak but rather with the inner components (perhaps the lumbar air bladder?).

With zero success, I have tried wetting down the back of the seat and the air bladder and I have sprayed some Breakfree lubricant inside the area that holds the bladder.

I am certain that this is why I am not catching any fish lately  so it is time to put this problem to an end!

Thanks for your help

Let the air out of the lumbar and then see if it makes the noise????

Thanks for the feedback. I forgot to mention that I have tried deflating it and have tried various amounts of air.

Take away the whole seat to ensure that the sound comes from the seat and not from something else in the hull. There are columns under the seat area. Are they OK?

Just checked with a video camera and the columns and scupper tubes appear to be in good shape.

There is no butt squeak but I did have Mexican for lunch. :P

I was so glad to read that you were the one who had Mexican for lunch. I was so afraid I was going to have to make that quantum leap to become a part of this conversation.

Post subject:  Re: Strange noise in my 2012 Hobie Revo 13 Seat.....Found it

Found it! The noise is coming from the screws that secure the seat to the kayak. It appears that the part that holds the screws is either loose or there is so much play that the plug has about 3/4" of play.

Anyone know if there is a fix for this or if this is a warranty issue?

I can't get a break on this post. I'm stuck with a bunch of comedians here.

OK, one last shot; it looks like the seat post peg holders can be unscrewed? Anyone know if they are epoxy'd or glued in? I thought there may have been another post about this but I can't seem to find it.

Serious answers, or really funny comments only :D .

Problem solved....hopefully.

I just found the replacement part on page 42 of the new 2013 catalog. Twist-loc receiver.
