We did get it fixed today. That black cable snapped so we were able to see where both ends were tied. Replaced with new cable.

I'm sure this is a simple fix, but I'm a newbie and have no clue what I'm doing. Bought my Revo 11 demo and yesterday was our maiden voyage. I discovered the "Down" pull doesn't work. You pull it until the string stops but there's never any resistance. I'm assuming something has just disconnected somewhere? The "Up" works fine. So my trip wouldn't be ruined, I crawled to the back and pushed the rudder down into place, but it seemed to work its way up some as I toured the lake. It stayed in enough to steer but it wasn't down all the way. Are these issues related? Can I fix it? It's under warranty but I'll have to drive 4 hours to have it looked at so I'd love to take care of it here. Thanks! S |

Hi, I agree it would be a bit of a PITA to have to drive 4 hrs to fix it if the answer is a simple one. It sounds like one of the rudder lines is not properly attached but it is difficult to diagnose accurately at this distance! However, if you search on these forums you'll find quite a lot of advice about adjusting the rudder, replacing lines etc and if it is a simple question of a line not being correctly attached it should be a simple (but probably a bit fiddly) fix. Can I suggest you have a dig around on the forums so that you can orient yourself about how the rudder and its various lines work and then do a bit more examination of the boat to find out what is wrong - this might take a bit of feeling about inside the boat (probably via the centre hatch) and you might find that you can actually see what the problem is if you use a small mirror that will fit inside the boat. Then report back with your findings - you will find a lot of people here who will be more than willing to help if they can. |

Possible the pully inside the boat has came loose? On the ones I have seen there is a pully near the pull handle. make sure this is still attached inside. Jim |

That black line ties onto the spectra line that is attached to the rudder - it's just loose inside the hull - find it (look inside the middle hatch) and tie them together - that's a weird one for sure... but very simple to fix thankfully. |

Take a look at the repair manual if you can't easily see what is wrong: http://static.hobiecat.com/digital_assets/Twist-n-Stow_Repair_Manual.pdf You can use a small camera inside the hull to look around. Images or Video helps. In fact... hey... two iPhones using face time (or phones using Skype) would work great for this type of thing. One as camera and the other as monitor. |

Hi . I post at this topic as it refers to rudder issues. As I have broken my old twist and stow rudder I got a new one yesterday. I managed to install it succesfully at first. But after performing some up and down movements of the rudder, the main large bolt that inserts at the center of the drum and binds the two pieces of the rudder together, came loose. I tighten it again but after the first two up and down movements it came loose again. So what is the problem? Should I use glue or something so as to hold the bolt in place? Thank you in advance for your replies. |
