Have you ever tried 5200 inside a hull? I used it on a polyethylene water tank in a sailboat and it held forever.

I may be getting a little leakage around the drive well in my Sport, and I have a couple of bubbles in the bow that I can almost see through from the inside (my wifes Sport is OK). As we tend to run into rocks in the high mountain lakes, I'm thinking I should reinforce those thin spots. They are right down at the knuckle, unfortunately.

Thanks for your thoughts on this subject. I like to take what I need with me for repairs, as we travel around.

A little tape can add an extra layer at your thin spot and be helpful for any emergency repairs.

I use a clear packing tape (see below) on the fore and aft centerline. It is surprisingly durable and if applied dry, there is no problem with it coming loose when wet. It protects the hull nicely; when it shows signs of wear, it's easy to replace. The premium tapes appear to be more tear resistant than the thinner cheap ones, so take a close look at what you choose.

Others have used Duct tape for emergency repairs. Like the packing tape though, it needs to be applied to a dry hull.

I believe there is an aluminum skinned tape also available -- have no experience with it though. 8)

It is a heavy clear plastic, adhesive backed, by 3M. It's used to cover the front bumpers, hood, etc. of new cars to prevent paint chipping (now that chrome and steel are gone). It's only downside is some shrinkage over time, and it doesn't like sharp corners. It also causes problems on headlights, due to the heat from high intensity lighting (the moisture content in the clear plastics leads to bubbling and fogging) of the lens.

I'll have to get the boat really dry before I apply it....I understand the plastic holds some moisture at normal temperatures.

I think it's tough enough to line my drive well...it it's leaking, that will stop it. The sharp corner may be pretty hard to work. If it works, I'll post a pic.
