I have a 2016 Pro-Angler 14 and the right side pedal kept sliding during operation. It turned out the 8050111 HX NYLOCK Nut had come loose and the only thing keeping the pedal from sliding off was the small elastic straps. The end cap kept the nut inside the chamber. The first time I just reinstalled the nut and went fishing again. However the movement of the pedal just loosened the nut again. So now, I have a brand new nut and flat washer, sent to me from Hobie. Sorry for the long post, but need to know how tight it should be? The old flat washer was smaller than the new one, and at sometime had been tightened to the point the washer was indented. If you overtighten the pedal does not rotate as you pedal. I don't have a torque wrench so I need to know if I should tightened a certain amount then loosen X-amount of turns. The original nylon must have been defective. Thanks so much.

NyLock nuts are meant to be used for only one use and not reused.

Regarding the pedal, the smaller washer was certainly not the correct size to begin with and since it was dented, the nut was over tightened.

My suggestion is to turn/twist the pedal as you tighten the nut and then stop, when the tension begins to show, that friction has started to prevent the pedal from moving smoothly. I have about 3 threads exposed past the end of the nylon insert.

For the past 6 years, I clean and re-lube my pedal shafts yearly following the above tightening method. I have never had a "new nut" come loose as you have experienced.

The same caution about not to reuse old Nylock nuts applies to the Mirage Drive chain and cable nuts too. Always buy new nuts, to have on have for any service.
