I kayak, surf and have tried the kayak surfing and most waves the kayak just turns sideways and I just try to not get flipped. Last year I tried surfing my WS Tarpon 160 in 4 to 5 foot waves. First wave I caught the bow went striaght down and hit the reef, front hatch cover was ejected like a missle and the kayak filled with water, I spent the next hour paddling a water filled kayak to shore.
I came in behind a medium size wave on my Adventure Island while under sail and I felt like I was on rails, what excitement.

[So, for surfing... rudder up and paddle in hands is best on all models.

Unless you can outrun the wave.[/quote]

So, what is the best way to secure my Mirage Drive with Turbo Fins on the deck of my Adventure? I don't want to leave it in the well when I surf into the beach. With the long fins, it won't fit even into the front hatch. And I want to secure it so it won't be pulled free, even in a capsize. (I already have a leash on it - I want something more secure) I find that the drive is a very awkward shape to lash down. Anyone have a good retaining method to store the Mirage drive on the rear deck/well?
