With little room in my garage I was wondering if it's okay to store an Outback on its scupper wheels with a foam pad under the nose?

No, It will bend, and risk damage to scupper holes. Best invert it sitting the side rails on some cross supports. If you want to install upright due to fit out then needs to be on weight spreading cradle or rails, to prevent bottom flattening.

ideally shouldn't be left on trolley for no more than an hour or two, especially in hot weather.

Thanks.I may rig some saw horses with PVC pipe to spread the weight for upright storage.

As long as the kayak is not resting on the H-Rails, you'd be fine doing this. With the weight of the PA it's not recommended to store on the rails. Best option is on cradles, otherwise you can store on foam pads on the floor. The owner's manual has suggested methods of storing:

Best answer is to rotate your outback so the bottom is facing up and then lay the PVC pipes into the two hull slots......make a measurement and the task is complete. :idea:

I don’t know if it would sit flat on the floor, but you could cut a few 2X4’s to run from side to side where the rod holders are moulded into the kayak. This would keep it just off the floor and keep it from warping.

I've just got a new Outback Camo. Are Hobie really saying that keeping a kayak on its side on thick rubber matts (not hard ground) in a cool garage will deform the hull/sides/shape?

If so I kinda regret buying it if they are so structurally weak / too heavy for the plastic it is made from.
