Integrity of Plastic Welding

Hey all, I'm a new Hobie owner, convert from an Ocean Kayak that was simply not made to fish. Happy to be on the dark side.

Long story short, I'm about to buy my second boat. I currently have a sport, but want a revo 13 for long ocean trips. I found one at a store that had shipping damage. There is an 8 inch crease in the hull right where the hole for the sail is. The bottom of the hull is totally unaffected, as is the rest of the boat. They will plastic weld it and sell it to me for $1200.

Obviously that's a great price for a new Revo 13. My question is, is the plastic weld strong enough in that area to hold? I never plan on using a sail.

I would think so. Not below water line and a low stress area.

I have seen some amazing weld work and even in the cockpit floor which is stressed.
