If a warranty claim was placed on the 2014 serial number it likely would have related to the original hull (2011) and would have been 7-8 years down the line since the original purchase? Our 2 year followed by an unwritten extended period does max out after awhile. |

Matt: I was just being funny that’s all, the guy asked how long the boat is supposed to last, It was just a bad joke. We owned quite a few Hobies over the years, ( the only kayaks I will ever own because of the mirage drives). We used and beat the heck out all of them all year round (lol because we can, living in S Florida). Sorry FE |

I have nothing against the folks at Hobie. They are doing the best they can within the confines of the company policy. It's the policy I don't agree with. I really don't see the negativity. More like accuracy. I mean, your warranty IS the worst in the industry. Going beyond it just makes you more even with the rest of the kayak makers. And the most important questions I have are still unanswered. How long should I expect a Hobie hull to last? Why do your hulls scratch so easily? Why are hulls still cracking at the drive well? I thought that problem was addressed? Why is the Hobie warranty so short? Why do customers have to wait so long for a replacement hull? I'm not being negative. These are valid questions from a concerned customer. My frustration comes from being without a kayak for so long through no fault of my own. Now I am being proactive to see if I can avoid this in the future. |

I received my new hull today. All seems shipshape. Now, the warranty clock starts over. Hopefully this one last longer than 3 years. |

I'm wondering how many defective hulls are out there that Hobie never hears from (or about) because they are outside the 2 year warranty or were bought 2nd hand. Owner repaired etc. I have 2 PA14's with topside separation forward and far left in the seat well area that I know are not included in Matts stats. I truly believe the defects are much much more common than Hobie or Matt is aware of. To me, defective is defective. I'll post a few pics tomorrow because I came here for repair suggestions or options for a very difficult location. I'm betting Hobie has seen more than a few in this area. |

I've got great pics of a topside crack in the same area on 2 PA14's, Matt, (Hobie) I realize this is a 2009 PA14 but a 3500.00 craft should not have this type of topside self destruction. My other 2012 is starting in the exact opp side of this crack. If Hobie wont stand behind it can you or someone else suggest best way to repair and maybe why I'm having this issue? This crack location is difficult & would suggest some type of overlay to repair. see pics here: https://imgur.com/a/2QLyVyJ |
