Good afternoon, I'm new here. I just bought a 2008 Adventure 16. Is it possible to install turbo fins on a V1 drive system?

Thanks

Yes. You’ll need V1 “masts” also.

Which may be hard to source and most likely have to get V2 sprocket conversion kit.

Turbo fins on early hulls can put excessive stress on early hulls increasing cracking risk.

One of the fins is torn up a bit so maybe I will just replace it with an original style fin, the kayak came with new fins and masts uninstalled. I haven't even had it in the water yet, work and rain have kept me from my first pedal. I'm off Friday so I will install the new curved fins and go hit the water, rain or shine.

Thanks folks

You can compromise, keep your old masts, and get square tip fins non turbo size.

If you want to take this to the next level... you can use a V2 fin kit and buy a couple of GT sprockets.

The threaded mast sprockets are way more durable at the mast connection. The V1 is a set screw and can strip.

The threaded sprockets work way better over the long run.

72066001 ST-TURBO FIN KIT V2/GT - GRAY/BLK
INCLUDES 2 ST-TURBO FINS, 2 THREADED LONG MASTS
$146

81127001 SPROCKET GT - W/ BEARINGS AND
US$ 25.69 each (x2)

Total upgrade $197

The 72065 fin kit is $136, so $61 more to go V2.
