I have only used my boat (Rev13) a few times. I discovered what appears to be scupper plugs - two rubber material, cup shaped plug things that look like they may go into the scupper holes behind the seat in the storage deck. When should I be using these? Do they keep water out? Water does not come up through the scupper holes when I am in the boat so I am not sure the purpose. Maybe I have not put enough weight in the boat to require them.

The purpose of the scupper holes in a sit-on-top kayak is to permit water to drain out of the seat area or rear cargo area of the kayak. And in a non-Mirage Drive sit-on-top kayak, the footwell area. So I have never been able to figure out why anybody would want to plug the scupper holes. My suggestion: throw them out. While you're at it, remove the foot straps from the pedals of your Mirage Drive and throw them out as well.

After you remove the foot pedal straps, replace them with "Heel straps".......Roadrunner came up with this neat idea several years ago and I can attest, they are the best foot support for the pedals.
Search for heel straps and you will find all the info you need.
