Post subject: | new guy stupid question about scupper plugs |
I have only used my boat (Rev13) a few times. I discovered what appears to be scupper plugs - two rubber material, cup shaped plug things that look like they may go into the scupper holes behind the seat in the storage deck. When should I be using these? Do they keep water out? Water does not come up through the scupper holes when I am in the boat so I am not sure the purpose. Maybe I have not put enough weight in the boat to require them. |

The purpose of the scupper holes in a sit-on-top kayak is to permit water to drain out of the seat area or rear cargo area of the kayak. And in a non-Mirage Drive sit-on-top kayak, the footwell area. So I have never been able to figure out why anybody would want to plug the scupper holes. My suggestion: throw them out. While you're at it, remove the foot straps from the pedals of your Mirage Drive and throw them out as well. |

After you remove the foot pedal straps, replace them with "Heel straps".......Roadrunner came up with this neat idea several years ago and I can attest, they are the best foot support for the pedals. Search for heel straps and you will find all the info you need. |
