I just spent a little time going over the specs and all, they do look kind of nice to me. They are a bit short, probably very stable as I think they are the same width as the compass.
I might be wrong but is this Hobie's first thermoformed hull? I was searching around and it looks like at least the other mirage kayaks are all rotomolded. That might explain the lighter weight. I definitely like the price too!
If I ever got one of these, I think the sail kit would add a lot of fun as well.

We have done thermalform back in our history with a small sailboat, but yes... first kayak done this way.

I looked but didn't find any info on the inseam or leg room on this kayak vs maybe an Outback. I'm 6'2". Would the Passport be cramped or any different that an Outback?

Maybe a bit cramped, but similar leg length. It's a small kayak.

This is excellent timing (except I want them now of course). I have been going over ads for used Hobies past couple weeks. Was wishing for something Sport size but could hold me 206 1/2 lbs and a big ole cooler and things...BAMM here it is and at this price I will get 2...I once had five (2 Sports, 2 13s and one 11) at once about 4 or so years ago but sold when Vantage seat was hinted ....
I wanted 2 so I can bring friends along and introduce them to Hobie fun....
A cool thing about Hobies is how on longer kayak outings I can pull a few in old school yaks when they get a lil tired...especially into the wind... makes me a bit of a "Hobie Hero Hunk" minus the Hunk....I guess you could say

Well, at 10.5' long and 34" wide I'm sure it's going to be a boat, ha ha, okay a barge :) But jeez, with the less complicated (yet still very efficient) mirage drive and lighter weight I'm thinking it's going to sell very well.
And yep, add in the ability to add the sail kit ... it looks like a real winner to me. Well done Hobie!!
Finally, an affordable, less complicated Hobie peddle drive most people should be able to afford.

1000 bucks difference between this and a compass in Canada. Only thing is will it plow in lakes, seems from the video almost glass lake and the water is almost coming over the bow?

I have pedaled it in rough seas. Very buoyant and pops up and over swells and chop.

Is there a transducer mount? I'm guessing not since it isn't mentioned in the specs.

Is not Lowrance Ready. This is a value, entry level product.

Mark kuddos to Hobie for "thinking outside the box". Wondering why Hobie joined the Pelican kayak market in going with a rotomolded hull? Guessing cost was the driving factor?

Makes sense, thanks for confirming.

Thanks. Are there any specs for the legroom to peg? I'm not finding any. For example when I look on Austin Kayaks I see a leg to peg for the Outback at 45". They don't have a line item for the Passport nor was I able to find one on the Hobie site. I'm more or less just trying to quantify it.

The drive well is a standard well, correct? Meaning I have take a 180 drive out of my 2019 Outback and plop it in no problem?

Probably to keep brand recognition on the drive type and to crush the competition. I think Hobie is doing a nice job with quickly competing and also adding retail channels like REI. Smart.
