Obviously the 11 is shorter and lighter. It looks like the length difference is all behind the seat. So is that where they make up the difference? Any other significant differences between the two?
The Revo 11 is quite a bit different from the 13. Aside from the dimensional differences, the Revo 11 has a little less initial stability, is quicker handling and more responsive (especially with the large sailing rudder). It's like driving a sports car vs a family sedan. Contrary to popular opinion and official measurements, both boats actually measure the same width, as you can see in the pic below. You'll also notice where the lengths differ. Note the slightly finer bow on the 11 makes for very quiet running like the Revo 16.
Although the Revo 13 is ultimately faster, they oddly enough cruise about the same speed at about 4 - 4.25 MPH (with Turbofins) in calmish water where the 11 runs very efficiently. Obviously smaller, the Revo 11 is not exactly an expedition boat. I add up to 18 lbs to the bow on the 11 to get efficient cruising speeds over 4.5 MPH. This is to keep the bow in the water at speed. I agree it kicks around a little more in chop and swell than the Revo 13, where again, the large rudder makes a nice difference, but I didn't notice that it takes more water over the bow than the Revo 13 or 16 for that matter (it may find its way into the cockpit a little sooner though due to length of the foredeck). IMO, the Revo 11 is one of Hobie's best designs -- lots of performance for its size!
