I've got a Passport 10.5. The plug is shorter on one end, than the other. No matter which direction I put it in, it doesn't seem quite right. I was just looking at the Hobie part guide for the Passport, and in the diagrams, the plug is shown symmetric in height. So my question is, did I get the wrong plug when I bought my kayak? Or is it just a generic placeholder plug in the parts diagram and I do have the right plug?

Yes it tapers - that is the correct plug. The illustration in the parts guide is generic. The well on the passports is a molded unit that is different to our other kayaks - it has the same unit used in the Eclipse

So, which way is it supposed to go? Not really that important, just curious.

I'd be interested in an answer from Hobie as well. Jacques, Matt?

Also, will all of the Hobie drive plugs/cassette fit the Passport 10.5?

Thanks in advance!

I would imagine the taller end forward, but I don't have a boat (at home) to see.

The primary purpose of the plugs is to prevent your foot/leg from going though the well. Not to make the cockpit floor flush. It also reduces water gushing up when paddling.
