My wonderful wife bought me a new Passport 12 recently, but when I tried to screw in the Hobie safety flag I noticed that it's not possible. Apparently the bungie mounts on the passport are just screwed in with screws, not threaded themselves. Is it possible to drill and thread the boat to accept the normal threaded attachments? Thanks for your help with this. |

The rotomolded fittings will not work on a Passport. You can slip into the rod holder? Use a piece of foam wedged in to hold tight. I will clarify the catalog text in the next printing. |

Well that sucks. Lol is there someplace that has a catalog that pertains to my boat? Sorry I'm new to this world. Thanks for the quick reply. |

Does anyone know of a mount that I can bolt to my kayak but screw in fittings for the rotomolded boats? |

Is this Hobie flag based on the Yak Attack Visi-carbon Pro flag with built-in light that folds into 3 sections and stores easily? Or the 1 piece all-orange flag? IT all depends on the base if it is a threaded screw-in base, a Scotty base, or a Ram Mount t-track base. If it's the 3rd style, you can buy it with a mount to fit into a t-track which you'll have to bolt on the hull. If you can't locate the underside & hold nuts for the bolts to attach to, you'll need to consider screwing them in or using well-nuts or rivets to attach the mount. |

It is the basic Hobie flag. I'm hoping that because I can't screw it directly into my boat that there is a mount I can bolt to my boat and then screw the flag into it. If this is the case, it also opens up the possibility of using other rotomolded screw-in deck fittings for other things. |

I had the same issue. Purchased flags with the screw-in mounts that don't fit the passport. Is it safe to say you can not drill 3/4" holes in the hull and screw in the mounts, because the mounts will not create threads in the hull? |

Maybe with a threaded PVC cap on the inside of the hull. Threaded to the insert? You would have to have a hatch for access. |
