I know iTrek is coming out in April.

The factory is still trying to build 2021s, so 2022 will start slow I am sure.

I'm a little confused by this statement. I received a Tandem Island in late July and both the MSO and last two digits of the serial number indicate it is a 2022 model year boat.

Are official announcements out? ( I am considering a passport based on price)

I am assuming no changes to passport or outback as the hobie YouTube channel has come out with "Walk thrus" for both these models in the last couple weeks. I know passport had relatively recent changes (12), so wasn't expecting this year, but new price would be good to know in this new world.

Dealers have all the details. Not 100% sure the Hobie website is up to date yet.

Maybe the factory is serializing 2022, but I was told they were still building2021 configurations up to November. Greg in Boat Sales would know more.

FYI, I contacted my dealer and they did not have any details of anything about 2022 boats...

We have filled all backorders for Outback seats, so it has to be on the way to the dealer.

Always heartbreaking when a company moves, or someone advocates they move, into another country. Lack of American production is due largely to cost, which is largely due to regulation. Of course Mexico and China can produce more cheaply, they don't have to abide by the AQMD, the IRS, the EPA, or anyone else.

It's worth more to me when things are built here, and I'm willing to pay that cost difference to keep production here and Americans employed. Reducing regulation is the tried and proven method of bringing down costs and reducing prices. Funny how so many people (supposedly) continue to vote in manners counter to those goals.

You misread that - the point was sourcing Chinese items from Mexico instead. And not so much a question of cost, but California made kayaks can't be sold when essential accessories are stuck in the transpacific pipeline meltdown. As for consumers paying up for US made mirage drives, it may be hard if older out of patent clones stay the same or get cheaper. Anyway, hoping we muddle thru by spring.

Got my outback on 11/20. Checked with the dealer yesterday and still no seats.
