Is it a silly question to ask if and when any 2022 kayak updates will be announced? Especially considering a lot of folks are probably still waiting on their 2021 models. Would 2022 just be a model year update or minor updates at best?

No major changes that I am aware of. Model year is delayed until November.

How many years till we see 360 drives on other models? :D

Not likely. The sideways thrust does not go well with narrower kayaks.

I don't understand why a 360 drive wouldn't work fine on an Outback, which is only two inches narrower than a PA 12. I would really like a 360 drive, but the Pro Anglers are too heavy for me to car top and get in and out of many of the undeveloped launch sites which I use with my Revolution.

Im looking into getting an outback is there any reason I should wait for the 2022 model? Will it have any changes? Or should i just get the 2021

Not sure on the Outback. Even I have not seen what is changing exactly. Parts is my thing more than boats, so not in that loop as much as I used to be.

Will dealers start getting the new models in November? I may have heard this from a dealer asking if I want to put a deposit down on one to hold a spot.

I know iTrek is coming out in April.

The factory is still trying to build 2021s, so 2022 will start slow I am sure.

If there are no significant updates can we still expect a price increase for 2022 models?

Hilarious. Yes, this is discussed in another thread. The TI is going up $800. No changes.

Everything coming through LAX and San Diego is delayed at record setting levels. See https://www.businessinsider.com/shippin ... rts-2021-8

The record for most ships stuck off these ports has been set four times in the last three weeks and stands at a current 56 ships. If you assume these are all container ships (they're not but let's make it easier to understand) that carry 10,000 containers apiece (many can carry much more). That's 560,000 containers sitting outside the ports waiting to get in, never mind the ships in port and the containers waiting for rail or truck transportation.

And just to make life interesting, Port of Corpus Christi is sending ships to sea because of Tropical Storm Nicholas, New Orleans is still picking up from whatever storm just hit it, and the Port of Shanghai is bracing for Typhoon Chanthu. By the way, we're also very short on truck drivers.

With things like 52 container ships at anchor off Long Beach... Some stuff is sitting out there 2-4 weeks in addition to the transit times. Then getting trucks to deliver... it is a nightmare. Our vendors all have the same issues we do. Covid shut downs, labor shortages, material shortages, shipping delays and rising costs all across the board.

A 40 foot container was $3,500 just about a year ago... now this week... $20,000. Labor is up, materials are up. Transportation costs are up. That means pricing has to go up regardless of major changes in the models. Anybody buy lumber recently? 2x4s are the same, but pricing went from about $3 to over $10. at one point. That is coming back down, but most products are seeing price increases.

All things considered, if a 2021 model is available right now would that be a better option?

I would thinks so. Less expensive for sure. We are still delivering 2021 though October I believe.

Re: costly containers; I hope the head office is considering moving overseas mfg to Mexico longer term. I have a nice trouble free car made in Mexico, I think from a fresh purpose-built factory possibly along the railway headed north.
