So I get you should wash off your drive after every outing (especially saltwater). But how often should I hit the joints with oil? Every four or five outings? Or just when I notice it getting a little harder to pedal?

I rinse off after each use and give the bearings a shot of lube. My drive is 4 years old and almost completely silent. I did have to replace the idler cable a few months ago.

At the end of a day when they were used I spray them down with water all over, moving the mechanism back and forth as I spray to dislodge any dirt and debris.

At the end of a week when they were used, after they are dry, I thoroughly spray them WD-40 pretty much top to bottom. I then work the mechanism for maybe 30 seconds rotating and turning them so the WD-40 gets everywhere.

My Oasis drives are 5 years old and look and work like new. Most of my use is in brackish or salt water.
