So I just bought a new Hobie revolution 13. My main problem is when I put the drive in and it locks into place I dont have much pedal power. The pedals only move 3 or 4 inches. It allows me to creep along slowly but I know this boat is pretty fast. I dont know what I am doing wrong. This is my first pedal kayak so I am learning. The steering is wonky too. It turns to port but barely turns starboard. I noticed the rudder doesnt turn very far to this side. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Take it back to your Hobie dealer to resolve the issues.

Does the mirage drive have more pedal movement when not installed? Similar with rudder, are you able to move it to starboard manually without using the tiller? Maybe not installed correctly. Just trying to help you troubleshoot and find what may be restricting movement.

1. Doublecheck that the same length setting is made for each foot.

2. With drive out of kayak, hold the drive by the pedals with both beside each other. The fins should be parallel to each other and pointed straight down from the drive. If not, the length settings differ (#1) or the drive was assembled without properly aligning the chain on the cogs. If the latter, return to dealer for correction.
