Turbo-tip -- that has a nice ring to it! I started using them last year and now have them on all 3 of my boats. They're relatively common on the surf skis where they've proven to increase rudder effectiveness, especially with following seas for broach control.

For me, they add a lot of control riding boat wakes where it is common to get into the 8 - 9 mph range. I've done quite a bit of experimenting with the Hobie rudders and think the winglets are a real asset at any speeds over 6 mph. Negligible drag. 8)

Here are a couple of other views of what they look like:

My Wife and I were out yesterday on a Revolution and Outback and noticed something about the seats. If you are somewhat reclined the seat pegs are quite secure. But if you tighten up the seat to sit up too much (which I keep trying to do, at 6' 3" I really wish I had more back support) the seat finally reaches an angle where the bottom is being pulled out of the peg holes.

Any idea what the bungee and clip on the back of the seat is for? If there was some what to put some backwards tension on the seat it might be more secure.

I just wish the seat was a bit higher.
