When I get a topic reply notification and visit the topic with my phone, I see this. Keep in mind this is on a screen that is about 2" wide:

The site is rendering on my phone as if it were a full sized computer screen, because there's no viewport set in the HTML. If you go to Google's Mobile Friendly test, you can see the problem:

https://search.google.com/test/mobile-f ... bBSasPnpcA

If that doesn't work, go to https://search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly and put https://www.hobie.com/forums/ into the search box. It will show you a preview that looks almost exactly like what I show above, and list a few problem areas. From having worked on my own website, I think fixing the viewport issue will resolve the others.

A simple viewport line to include in the site template is:
Code:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0" />

I'd be happy to help implement this if that would be easier.

We are enabled for tapatalk. That is the best way to use the site for Mobil.

People still use that? :)

Relying on people having tapatalk isn’t really a solution, and it’s totally unnecessary. phpBB is mobile friendly... it’s just that Hobie’s installation of it isn’t. Maybe the next upgrade will bring mobile support.

EDIT: here is a screenshot of a normal, properly configured phpBB installation on my phone along with one of the Hobie forum:

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I installed Tapatalk and I can’t get this forum to show up ...

If you get it working, let us know how it goes. Everyone is not in love with Tapatalk... link tracking, pop-ups, ads, etc. Some of us just want to interact directly with the forums we like without a layer of monetization in the middle.

As forums update and become inherently mobile friendly, they drop Tapatalk without much user pushback. Xenforo is probably the best example I use of a great native mobile experience, but as I showed phpBB also has it. On the big Xenforo board that I use, the biggest reason people wanted to keep Tapatalk was for the image uploads.

So if Tapatalk is here to stay on the Hobie forum, maybe it is also the solution for the recently asked question about image storage. But I would rather leave third parties out of my forum browsing, and deal with my own images.

Matt, can you look into this (or have someone do it?) Some of us newbies can't seem to find the site in Tapatalk ... or if there is some sort of double-secret way to get to it in Tapatalk, can you provide insight? (It is apparent that some people are using it to post, so the connection obviously works - you just don't seem to show up in searches. I tried keywords, URLs etc. and no dice.)

Thanks ...

Was reported to be an issue recently. I had informed IT, but expect this to be an issue for awhile. The lead IT is consumed with major projects unfortunatly.
