Friday June 14 2013 - Sunday June 16

South Florida and Treasure Coast AI/TI sailors are invited to join me for a weekend of sailing and swimming in the pristine waters of the Indian River and the Fort Pierce Inlet. There's also some good fishing spots, and plenty of spoil islands to explore. I'v done this before and it's a wonderful way to spend the weekend. The incoming and outgoing tides are going to be perfect that weekend too :).

I'll be staying at the Sandhurst Hotel. (866) 395-7263. Rooms are about $98/night, with small but adequate kitchens. The hotel provides a nice Continental breakfast as well. Check it out:

You can either leave your TI on their beach in front of the hotel, or in the water - very convenient.

Not sure if we can make it but will seriously consider it. Sounds like a fun weekend.

Thanks for the invite !

Sun e,
It's looking less likely that I'll be back in "sunny" FL in time to make this event. I'll let you know when I get back though. I can't wait to sail again. I'm having separation anxiety from my TI!

Well I sure hope we have better weather than what we're going through right now .

I'm beginning to wonder whether I should have strapped down my boat before I left.

See... you should have installed that gate that you said you were going to! But no problem... I'll just snag it for you when it floats by us this afternoon  .

It's behind the new gate but I'm concerned it would blow away In the PBC tornado!

Unfortunately I decided to cancel this weekend's trip to Ft. Pierce. The 3 day forecast is for very light, almost no wind. The Hotel requires a two day notice, I didn't want to lose my deposit, and it's just no fun if there's no wind. I'll try again in a few weeks, and hopefully it will be better sailing conditions next time.

That's good news for me. I'll be down there for the rescheduled sail.

I grew up in that area. I currently live in West Palm. 12 A bouy is supposed to be a great restaurant at the West side of the South bridge. I haven't eaten there; it started when I was away at college and when I have tried to go it has been slammed. There is a neat little brewery that has opened 407 north 2nd street is the address according to google earth. If you get the chance hit up "Dales" for some awesome inexpensive bbq out more West about 1 mile east of 95 on Okeechobee road for a $6 sliced pork sandwiches with steak fries, the best slaw you will ever have, and sweet tee (put the slaw on the sandwich).

I’ll try to meet up with you guys when you reschedule.

Sounds good. I'm always up for sailing, beer, and good food combinations  . I'll be sure to let everyone know when the next Ft. Pierce Inlet trip becomes available.

In the meantime, a few of us also like to sail from the Jupiter Beach Park, launching from the South side of the Inlet, on the beach, protected by the jetty.

On the weekends the beach is just too busy though, and we don't want to offend the lifeguards. But during the week or Fridays, it's much quieter. Anyone interested in joining us let me know.

I wish I could get away from my 9-5 to sail on Fridays  . The only cart I have is the skupper cart with the narrow black tires. How is access there? I am planning on rigging up my hobie 16 beach wheels to accept the TI.

FaS,
I understand about the "ole work schedule". Perhaps someday they'll be a 3 day weekend in your not too distant future. Send me a pm and I'll add your email address to our Beach Day Invitation Loop  .

I'm not familiar with the Hobie 16 Beach Wheel set-up you're referring to. However, there's 3 in our group who own Appel Carts like the one shown in the picture above, so no problem getting you down and back to the shoreline from the parking lot. There used to be pictures and a video here viewtopic.php?f=73&t=35157 but I don't see them anymore?
